Digital Safety & Privacy Training Initiative

Trainer & Facilitator (Pro Bono)

TimelineDecember 2014 - Present (12+ years)
StatusActive (Pro Bono)

The Challenge

Journalists covering sensitive conflict, activists under surveillance, and women's rights organisations in Pakistan face acute digital threats. However, standard security resources are predominantly in English, designed for Western threat models, and assume technical fluency. Paid courses are out of reach for at-risk civil society. The challenge: deliver free, actionable, culturally grounded digital safety training in local languages.

The Strategic Approach

Direct, grassroots knowledge transfer without grants or bureaucracy. Leveraging Bytes For All Training of Trainers (ToT) certification from 2014, conduct continuous hands-on sessions in English, Urdu, and Pashto. Focus on threat modelling, end-to-end encrypted messaging, account hygiene, and device safety.

  • Multilingual training delivery across English, Urdu, and Pashto
